Choosing cabinet colors can be tough. It’s not the same as choosing a wall color that can easily be painted over if you don’t like it. Therefore, we tend to agonize over this decision because, quite frankly, we don’t want to mess it up.
Probably the first question to ask yourself is do you want to go light or dark? Light does not necessarily mean white. Although bright white will never go out of style, there are many classic off-white shades that will stand the test of time. Currently the most popular “white” we are seeing is actually a shade of putty, mushroom or griege.

Darker cabinet colors can be especially striking in a room with an abundance of natural light. Dark colors add contrast as well as depth to a room. If you are trying to stick with something classic, dark cabinets could be the answer. Think in terms of the “little black dress” or “classic tuxedo”, they never go out of style.
If dark colors feel too bold, try using them in a butler’s pantry, mudroom, or home office. They mix easily with white or wood tones.
